FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is the difference between GPY and GPYXL?

The GPY is the standard pyramid skylight range, suitable for most residential and light commercial applications.

The GPYXL is a large-format pyramid skylight, designed for oversized openings and higher structural demands, and is typically specified for commercial or architectural projects.

Is the Glass Pyramid Skylight available as supply only?

- GPY can be supplied as supply only or supply and install
- GPYXL is available as supply and install only

Due to the size, weight, and installation complexity of GPYXL units, Skyspan undertakes installation to ensure compliance, performance, and warranty integrity.

Can GPY skylights be manufactured in custom sizes?

Yes they can be custom-manufactured to suit project-specific dimensions, roof geometry, and glazing requirements.

Larger formats and unusual proportions may influence glass specification, structural detailing, and installation methodology, which will be assessed during the design stage.

Are GPY skylights suitable for bushfire-prone areas?

Yes. Glass Pyramid Skylights are manufactured from non-combustible materials, including aluminium and laminated glass, and can be specified to meet bushfire requirements subject to roof pitch, glazing selection, and project conditions.

Where required, Skyspan can assist with confirming BAL suitability during the specification process.

How does a pyramid skylight perform compared to a flat glass skylight?

A pyramid skylight introduces multi-directional daylight, capturing light throughout the day rather than relying on a single plane of glazing.

This makes GPY skylights particularly effective in spaces where light distribution and visual impact are equally important, such as stairwells, atriums, and feature spaces.
