FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What makes the MHC different from standard metal roof access hatches?

The MHC is specifically engineered for cyclonic wind regions (C & D).

- It differs from standard access hatches through:
- Engineer certification to AS1170.2 wind loading
- Fully welded construction
- Marine-grade aluminium body
- Heavy-duty locking and sealing systems

It is designed for extreme weather performance rather than general roof access.

Is the Cyclone Hatch suitable for Wind Regions C and D?

Yes. The MHC is engineer-certified to AS1170.2:2011 and designed for use in Wind Regions C and D.

This makes it suitable for cyclonic and high-wind locations where standard roof access hatches are not permitted.

Can the Cyclone Hatch be supplied with hinges on the long side?

Yes. Hinge position can be specified, including hinging on the long side of the hatch (depending on size).

This is commonly requested to suit access direction, roof pitch, or clearance requirements and should be confirmed at order stage.

How is the Cyclone Hatch secured during extreme weather?

The MHC is fitted with heavy-duty rod-bolt locking systems and weather-tight gasket seals.

These features work together to maintain secure closure and resist uplift forces during extreme wind events.

When is the Cyclone Hatch (MHC) the right solution?

The MHC is the right choice when:

- The project is located in Wind Region C or D
- Cyclone certification is required
- Secure roof access is needed in extreme conditions
- A heavy-duty, engineered hatch is specified
- Long-term durability in harsh environments is critical
