Thermally Broken Skylights

Skyspan is the only Australian manufacturer offering a patent-pending thermally broken, self-draining skylight system. An insulating thermal break runs through the frame to stop heat transferring straight through the aluminium, and an integrated condensation gutter with weep holes drains moisture away before it can drip into the room below.

That matters most in the places people actually notice: no wet patches on the plasterboard in winter, less heat pouring in through the glass in summer, and lower running costs on heating and cooling.

How the thermal break works

A conventional aluminium skylight frame conducts heat straight through itself. Ours doesn't — an insulating barrier separates the outer frame from the inner, and anything that does condense is caught and drained rather than dripping into the room.

  • Thermal Break Frame - Minimises heat transfer for improved insulation and stable indoor temperatures.
  • Condensation Control - Integrated gutter and weep holes manage moisture and prevent internal water damage.
  • Energy Efficient - Helps reduce reliance on HVAC systems, lowering operating costs and enhancing occupant comfort.
  • Built for Performance - Designed and tested to meet key Australian Standards, including AS4285, AS1288, and AS3959.

Thermally modelled for NCC and NatHERS compliance

Dramatically reduced thermal bridging supports compliance under Section J of both the 2022 and 2025 editions of the NCC, and NatHERS energy rating requirements — whichever edition applies in your jurisdiction.

Designed and tested to meet key Australian Standards, including AS 4285, AS 1288 and AS 3959. Thermal performance values and full specifications are available on each product page, or from our specifications team.
